Happy Friday!

Hi everyone! I wanted to mention a few things.

If you hadn’t seen, I have a TeeSpring store set up. You can check it out here. I have mugs, T-Shirts, tank tops, and sweatshirts to pick from in six designs.

I am in the editing process of the Christmas novella right now. I need to pick a title, hammer down the blurb, and pick a release date. It will be sometime at the end of November, so please stay tuned for that announcement!

I posted a #FunFactFriday on my Facebook page today. I LOVE Halloween! Yup, I’m that crazy person who loves to decorate and I’m already planning out which movies I’m going to dust off. Hocus Pocus is a MUST in my house. So in case you were wondering… there are 46 days until the fun-filled day!

Fractured Fairytales

Check out what Astronima’s Review’s and Clutter had to say about the Fractured Fairytale Anthology!

I’m super excited about her thoughts on my story, Beauty Unmasked as well!

“Beauty Unmasked: Is based on Beauty and the Beast. This is a modern twist on this story. It was riveting and fantastically done. Viktor is the modern beast of a man who wants nothing more to be left alone in his hole of a house a shell of himself. He fights a battle that he realizes he will need his Belle to win. Isabel is feisty, strong, determined, and floored by her feelings for Viktor. This story was beautifully told. I cannot say enough about it. While I would love more it was perfect how all the characters from the fairy tale played in to the modern-day story. It’s a HEA that is perfect for this short novella. You didn’t feel like it was rushed. This story was a 5 for me. I want more!”

Astronima's Reviews & On Pointe Proofreading

I’m late. What else is new in life for me. This anthology went live on September 2nd, but I am just now getting to a point to review it. I’ve read the whole anthology and am just going to summarize each below. Overall this story was a 4 for me.

The Enchantress: This story was weird for me. It was really hard to get in to. There is no HEA in this one, so don’t go looking for it. It was very dark and had a unique twist on the relationships of Felicity, Anne, and Alistair. It is based on the fairy tale of the Enchantress that cursed the Beast, but WOW. Overall this was a 3 for me. There were some typos and it was confusing to follow the story and didn’t flow like I would have liked a story to flow.

The Curiosities of Sea Foam: I ended up…

Sweet and Sinful Saturday Reads…

I had this novel for quite some time and I’ll admit the non-HEA ending kept holding me back. I’m mad at myself for waiting to read it though. It was such a great story!

I didn’t expect the BDSM side of it all, but I found it really well written. Shannon Youngblood does a great job pulling you into this story. It’s a beautiful story that includes some hardship but the characters grow in a great way.

In a couple of spots there were a couple of simple typos like i vs I that I hope can be fixed for future readers.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this book reminds us of that. I love the message of self-love. You don’t have to be a certain size to have body image issues and this message can help many.

Jackson and Maggie forever!

“No matter what anyone says, you are BEAUTIFUL. Inside and out!”

Chub Rub by Shannon YoungbloodFat:

Adjective
1. (of a person or animal) having a large amount of excess flesh.

Hi. My name is Maggie, and I’m a fat person. No, I’m not a self-loathing, angry woman who thinks all skinny girls are the devil spawn of satan, thank you very much. What I am is a cubicle dwelling, shy girl with a healthy love for all things chocolate and deep fried. Yeah, I know, I should put down the brownie and pick up a celery stalk, but where is the fun in that? My best friend, Polly, assures me that the club we’re going to tonight is going to be loads of fun, but I’m not sure. Until I meet him.

Yes, Yes. Laugh it up. A 30 year old, sexually Dominant male, who owns his own club, is scared of water. If you’d been through what I had as a child, you’d be fucking terrified of it too. I’ve always looked for Mrs. Right Now, preferring to fling myself from a moving airplane into the Atlantic than to think about settling down. Until she comes walking into Newcomers night at my club.

Beauty Unmasked by AJ Renee

In a world without magic, tragedy has left Viktor a broken, bitter, and angry man. Isabel might be the only one who can make him see past his new cursed life. Will the beast inside drive her away, or will she be able to heal more than just his broken body?

About AJ Renee…

AJ Renee is the author behind the St. Fleur series, Beauty Unmasked, and Finding Love at the Falls…. She’s a military wife and mother to three girls, seven and under. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with her Masters of Science in Criminal Justice and a Bachelors of Science in Psychology while working at the library.

She loves to write steamy romance with suspense and a happily ever after. When she isn’t writing or interacting with her readers, you can find her spending time with her family or reading. AJ enjoys traveling, researching family history, and all things New Orleans.

Beauty Unmasked…

Earlier this year, I was presented the opportunity to include a fairy tale retelling into an anthology arranged by R.L. Weeks.

I thought on it for about 5 seconds… I mean come on! Who wouldn’t present a story to be included? I decided I would retell Beauty and the Beast. I love that story!

Belle is a strong woman who makes no excuses for who she is. She stands up to the Beast and to Gaston. So I wanted to bring those beautiful traits into a modern day, no magic, retelling.

My novella, Beauty Unmasked, is in book one of the Fractured Fairytales anthology. It releases TOMORROW! R.L. Weeks had so many great submissions she decided to create not one, but two books. There are nine stories in each book.

Here is a little blurb to wet your appetite.

In a world without magic, tragedy has left Viktor a broken, bitter, and angry man. Isabel might be the only one who can make him see past his new cursed life. Will the beast inside drive her away, or will she be able to heal more than just his broken body?

BEST ANTHOLOGY OF 2017

I’m so excited to announce that not only did the Fractured Fairytales anthology get nominated for the Reality Bites Magazine Best Anthology of 2017, but we WON!!!

It was a HARD battle as we were up against some great anthologies. Thank you to everyone who voted! We couldn’t have won without you!

The move…

Hi! I know it’s been a while and I’m happy to have you here!

Since I checked in last we made the move cross country from Vegas to Illinois. Desert to endless farmland. Big city living to small town living. It’s been quite the ride and I love every bit of it.

I’ve determined I have a gypsy heart. There is no way around that. You really have to love your spouse and have a gypsy heart to uproot this many times in your life. It wasn’t in my control as a child through my father’s career, but dating my husband I knew what would happen if it worked out.

We have the house up to about 97% in place. I need to declutter like you couldn’t believe. The office is moving along. I got a desk, chair, and thanks to bad service in a tech center I now have a new computer too.

My older two girls started school today so there has been serious excitement around here. I hope we find our routine in this coming week because I need to get into my writing cave and get this Christmas novella moving.

As I try to find a new routine that I hope includes gym, school, writing, and family time I hope you find one of my books to entertain you. Fractured Fairytales anthology is releasing in a few weeks so if you haven’t reserved your copy, do it now!

Until next time! Happy reading!

xo,

AJ

Sweet and Sinful Saturday Reads…

Since we were driving cross country I downloaded a couple of audio books. I was able to finish this one and it was GREAT! Today’s book recommendation is Cree by HJ Bellus. If you’re an audio book lover I enjoyed this one. The story flowed well and kept me engaged.

**Mature Content Warning** Recommended for ages 17+ due to language and sexual content.

Whose parents abandon them in a trashy trailer when they are five years old? Oh Yeah! Mine do!

Hey Hoochies! I’m Milly, and I am tired of taking kicks to the gut. A broken family, an asshole husband and the loss of loved ones have left me crying Uncle, and declaring a serious case of the Fuck-Its!

I had my heart broken, stomped on and shattered before I ever started on my journey to find my little piece of happiness. With a bucket list, a ’66 Ford and wild dreams, I set out on an adventure that changed my life forever.

I found Cree…

A pirate with a little princess and they swept me off my ever lovin’ feet, filling my world with sprinkles, mac n’ cheese and the courage to live again.

They forced my fragile heart to trust and love without fear.

But the truth is, nobody’s past stays hidden forever. It’s an invisible monster waiting to attack and destroy. It has the capability to ruin everything you’ve worked to set right.

All it takes is one final blow to the gut to end everything…

Vacation time…

Hey everyone!

If you’ve been following me across social media you know that we are in the middle of our move. Right now we are in Florida enjoying some long overdue family time. We haven’t been “home” in four years. So many things have changed since we were last in our old stomping grounds.

The long drives were hard to get here, but hot damn did our girls do great! We stopped in New Orleans briefly to see my godparents and cousins. Let me say… aging sucks. I’m so glad I got to see them though. Life is so short and things change in a blink of an eye.

We visited my sister in Clearwater, an aunt in Tampa, went to the beach and Busch Gardens and I even got to meet my editor in person for her 30th birthday party. That was all in a matter of THREE days! Came back to my mom’s and saw a few more people and tomorrow we head out to Melbourne to hang out with one of my sister in laws and my mother in law. We plan on more beach time too (may have to leave my very sunburned husband at home though.)

My car is in the shop today so we are stuck since I was too lazy to remove the car seats. When 2 of the 3 are a pain in the ass you wouldn’t bother either. On the plus side, I’ve been able to catch up on my work. I have some books I owe a few readers in envelopes and ready for me to head to the post office.

I also got to really check out those latest reviews as well. Everyone who’s posted a review thus far on Duplicity has enjoyed it and that makes my heart happy. I was really nervous over that one.

If you haven’t caught up on the St. Fleur series head over to Amazon and grab your copy HERE!

Well as always, I love to hear from my readers so comment below or message me in a variety of ways found over on my Contact me page.

Have a great week! Happy reading!

Christmas in July anyone?

Well here is a Christmas Novella to ease your holiday blues! This one is a fast, insta-love. Ms. Keyes gives you a taste of Christmas romance and you’re able to get a feel for her writing in this story.

My Amazon review:

It’s the first book from this author that I have read and I really enjoyed it. It was a quick and romantic read. Love at first sight, kind of story, with two broken individuals drawn together by their pain. I love sweet romantic stories with a happily ever after and this delivered.

one wish janae keyesYou get one wish, what do you wish for?

Melanie Morris has freshly filed for divorce, and she can’t bare the thought of spending Christmas surrounded by her nosey family. It might be the last Christmas she can spend in the holiday home she and her estranged husband own in the Sierra Nevada. Melanie’s one wish is never to feel alone as she had during her marriage.

The snow is coming down, and it is Christmas Eve. Electrician Hunter Ripley isn’t in the Christmas spirit and wants to clock out and spend the evening with his feet up, and a beer in his hand, forgetting the memories of his late wife. Hunter’s one wish is to find peace in the past as he works to move on.

One last call comes in, and Hunter is up to bat when he’s called to an elaborate holiday cabin. With the heat out and the snow coming down, Melanie and Hunter have to make due until the snow clears. Will their wishes come true this Christmas?

Sweet and Sinful Saturday Reads…

This weeks Sweet and Sinful Saturday Read goes to a book written by a woman whom I had not even heard of (*gasp*) until #RT16. Now I am kicking my ass for not knowing who I was talking to and jumping all over her work. Who might you ask was this? None other than the wonderful A.L. Jackson.

Since meeting her I have read A Stone in the Sea. What a wonderful story! I need to get back to that series! I will admit I haven’t read past that one, mainly because I have so many books in line.

I recommend that you not ONLY read this novel, but clear your schedule because if the rest are like the first you are going to want to binge read these. I’ll probably reread this one before diving into the others. We ALL love refreshing ourselves with awesome story-lines and this one is not an exception. Don’t forget to come back and tell me what you thought!

A Stone in the SEaSunder lead singer Sebastian Stone is no stranger to trouble.

It follows him wherever he goes.

From his track record, he should have known Shea Bentley would be a problem. But the soft, innocent Southern girl was all he could see. All he wanted to see. Now they’re both drowning in a sea of desire, sinking hopelessly into a world of lust, and their passion refuses to let them up for air.

No matter how much he wants that to be enough…Shea has an inescapable past. One she would do anything to keep running from.

But some secrets never die.

If her history is dragged from the depths, it could tear his world apart. He has to decide if she’s worth fighting the tide or if they should just sink like a stone in the sea.

A Stone in the Sea is Book One in Shea & Sebastian’s two-part Duet.

Hey! I hope you’ve been getting in some reading time. Maybe on the beach or pool. Hell, maybe you’re hidden in a pantry as you escape your kids during summer break. No judgement here. Let me get to today’s recommendation…

The Incidental Affair by K.S. Marshall was a great debut novel. I’m looking forward to reading her latest release, Losing Her. I’ll admit that I had moments where I wanted to reach into my tablet and shake the characters around. To me this is a sign of great writing. The story flowed and had me engaged. Make sure to give her a shot.

COVER REVEAL FOR CARINA ADAMS UNFINISHED BUSINESS!!!

Title: Unfinished Business
Series: Bastards of Boston Novel
Author: Carina Adams
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: July 26, 2017

The Bastards of Boston live in a world most don’t understand. They follow their own rules, only accountable to each other, the innocents they protect, and the people they couldn’t save.

As president of the Bastards MC, Robert Doyle is the man behind it all. It’s his responsibility to keep his club safe, to be the smartest man in the room, and be ten steps ahead of everyone. He’d give everything he had, and sell his soul to the devil, to protect the ones he loves.

Until Rocker comes face-to-face with the pain he thought he’d buried. Old wounds are ripped open. Revenge consumes him. Once again he’s the teenager desperate to avenge his daughter’s murder and nothing else matters.

He calls me his angel, but the halo I wear caught fire a long time ago. There is no line I won’t cross, no law I won’t break. I’ll do whatever it takes to save him. If the road to hell is paved with good intentions, I’ll happily burn.

When past and present collide, we’re in for one hell of a bumpy ride.

I felt my eyes widen. In my mind she was still just a girl, short and straight, all gangly arms and awkward movements that come with being a young teen. Somewhere over the last few years, she’d grown up.

I hesitated for a brief moment, stunned. This woman was nothing but trouble; tall, athletic, and beautiful enough to make even me notice her. For a moment I stared into her eyes, completely blown away. If I hadn’t known better, I would have sworn there was relief in those depths. Something I’d thought I’d lost stirred in my gut.
“Don’t touch me!” She sneered, trying to get free as I caught her and gripped her shoulders tightly. When she couldn’t break the hold, she glanced over my shoulder, her panic clear. “Where’s Matty?”

“Not here.”
“Let go!” She shoved at me again. “I need Matt, not you.”
“You’re in my club, little girl.” I growled back, pushing back anything but the irritation that my stress free night had gone to shit so quickly. “If you didn’t want to see me, you should have stayed in that cushy little apartment I pay out the ass for.”

Blue eyes narrowed as she tipped her head back and looked at me. Seeing my shiner, she raised an eyebrow, her nose wrinkled in disgust. “Someone finally gave you the beating you deserved? Sorry I wasn’t here for that.”

The strong scent of alcohol on her breath made me clench my fists. She winced as my fingers dug into her flesh, and it took every ounce of self restraint I had to loosen my grip. I took a deep breath and tried to control my rage. “You’ve been drinking.” It wasn’t a question.
Her eyes narrowed in crystal clear hatred as she jerked her head back. “Go to hell.”

“Already been there, Brat. Fought my way out. I’m still here. Explain to me why you are.”
“I told Tonka Truck,” she sent Tank’s back a seething look, “I’m here for Matty. I meant it.” Her hands planted themselves on my chest. “Get the fuck away from me before I start to scream and these guys,” she leaned her head toward the table, “give you another black eye.”
I laughed humorlessly at that.

The stupid little girl was fucking clueless. She could scream all she wanted here and not one of the brothers us would step in to help her. She wasn’t at some college frat party where a good Samaritan was waiting to rescue the pretty damsel in distress. Tank and I were the closest things in this room, and if we were the ones causing the scene, everyone else would sit back, drink and watch.

“Let’s go!” I snapped.

Cris shook her head. “I’m not leaving. Not without…”
“Now!” I yelled, cutting off her words.
Her jaw set. “Fuck off. I’m not leaving.”
I’d had enough of her attitude and manipulation to last a lifetime. I wasn’t about to cause an even bigger scene with the drama queen in front of me, risk the chance that someone would figure out she was worth something. Her brother could deal with her shit. I was done.

If Matt had been here, I would have stepped aside and let him handle her. Since he wasn’t, she was my responsibility. Fucking bullshit best friend code. But, I knew he’d do it for me.
I did the only thing I could. I grabbed her, threw her over my shoulder, and strode out of the club.

When fists starting pounding into my lower back, and she started demanding I put her down, my hand itched with the need to spank the jean covered ass on my shoulder. As we made our way outside, I hoped the anger and hatred coursing through my veins was clear on my face. If any patched member stepped in, I’d have no place to argue – I wasn’t their equal yet, I was still a guest in their club.
A few brothers nodded my way, amusement clear, as I headed for the door, but no one tried to stop me. Thank Jesus. I wasn’t sure what I would have done if they had. Probably something dangerous and definitely something stupid.
Once the brat realized that she couldn’t fight her way down, she did the only thing an immature child like her would – she tried to pants me. I knew when she was quiet for a moment too long that she was up to something. I thought she was going to give it one final push and try to break free, but when her hands moved to my back pockets, and she gave the denim one solid yank, I almost laughed.
Instead, I yanked on my waistband, barely keeping it around my hips, and gave her thigh a warning squeeze with my free hand. The whole city could see my blue Fruit of the Loom’s, and I still wouldn’t put her down until I’d safely deposited her ass in my truck.

When she gave them another push, I snapped. “Cut the shit Cris.”

“Fuck off.”
Such a polite and sweet little girl my best friend’s baby sister was.

EXCERPT:

Jesse’s eyes flew open as he released himself and moved to a protective stance. “What are you doing here?”

His gaze moved down her body in a caress. She saw the flash of pleasure before he put up walls to protect himself from her hurtful inaction and words. Unable to speak, her mind was jumbled over Jesse’s naked form and the fact that he had been pleasuring himself. Jaime Lynn stepped into the spray and Jesse moved back. His back hit the wall with nowhere to go.

Jaime Lynn took in his body, the muscles covering his chest and arms down to his sculpted abs. His beautiful, thick length stood proudly as her eyes roved down his thighs to where wiry, black hair covered his legs.

Confusion flashed over his face, replacing the desire in his gaze, as he repeated, “What are you doing here, Jaime Lynn?”

Nerves froze her in place, the words right on the tip of her tongue. No matter the limbo state of their relationship, Jesse was a constant in her life. They may have danced around their attraction for far too long, but the idea of him not being there at all scared the crap out of her. There really was no one else she was willing to risk her heart for.

— ABOUT AJ RENEE —

Author to Widower’s Aura, Always Mine, Duplicity, and Finding love at the falls…. I’m a military wife and mother to three girls seven and under. Prior to these roles I lived in Florida where I attended the University of Central Florida. I received my Masters of Science in Criminal Justice and Bachelors of Science in Psychology. A decade later and I haven’t used either.

Writing a book was never a goal of mine, funny how life works out sometimes. I thought I would work for one of the many agencies that specialize in justice. Instead I decided to focus on a family once we married.

When I’m not shuttling my daughters around, you can find me at my laptop. I hope you enjoy my books as much as I enjoyed writing them.
