I had this novel for quite some time and I’ll admit the non-HEA ending kept holding me back. I’m mad at myself for waiting to read it though. It was such a great story!

I didn’t expect the BDSM side of it all, but I found it really well written. Shannon Youngblood does a great job pulling you into this story. It’s a beautiful story that includes some hardship but the characters grow in a great way.

In a couple of spots there were a couple of simple typos like i vs I that I hope can be fixed for future readers.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this book reminds us of that. I love the message of self-love. You don’t have to be a certain size to have body image issues and this message can help many.

Jackson and Maggie forever!

“No matter what anyone says, you are BEAUTIFUL. Inside and out!”

Hi. My name is Maggie, and I’m a fat person. No, I’m not a self-loathing, angry woman who thinks all skinny girls are the devil spawn of satan, thank you very much. What I am is a cubicle dwelling, shy girl with a healthy love for all things chocolate and deep fried. Yeah, I know, I should put down the brownie and pick up a celery stalk, but where is the fun in that? My best friend, Polly, assures me that the club we’re going to tonight is going to be loads of fun, but I’m not sure. Until I meet him.

Yes, Yes. Laugh it up. A 30 year old, sexually Dominant male, who owns his own club, is scared of water. If you’d been through what I had as a child, you’d be fucking terrified of it too. I’ve always looked for Mrs. Right Now, preferring to fling myself from a moving airplane into the Atlantic than to think about settling down. Until she comes walking into Newcomers night at my club.

This is Jackson’s world, not mine, but he’s slowly dragging me under, introducing me to things I don’t fully understand, but want to learn. There is something between us. We can’t fight it. We’re both sinking.

Since we were driving cross country I downloaded a couple of audio books. I was able to finish this one and it was GREAT! Today’s book recommendation is Cree by HJ Bellus. If you’re an audio book lover I enjoyed this one. The story flowed well and kept me engaged.

**Mature Content Warning** Recommended for ages 17+ due to language and sexual content.

Whose parents abandon them in a trashy trailer when they are five years old? Oh Yeah! Mine do!

Hey Hoochies! I’m Milly, and I am tired of taking kicks to the gut. A broken family, an asshole husband and the loss of loved ones have left me crying Uncle, and declaring a serious case of the Fuck-Its!

I had my heart broken, stomped on and shattered before I ever started on my journey to find my little piece of happiness. With a bucket list, a ’66 Ford and wild dreams, I set out on an adventure that changed my life forever.

I found Cree…

A pirate with a little princess and they swept me off my ever lovin’ feet, filling my world with sprinkles, mac n’ cheese and the courage to live again.

They forced my fragile heart to trust and love without fear.

But the truth is, nobody’s past stays hidden forever. It’s an invisible monster waiting to attack and destroy. It has the capability to ruin everything you’ve worked to set right.

All it takes is one final blow to the gut to end everything…

Christmas in July anyone?

Well here is a Christmas Novella to ease your holiday blues! This one is a fast, insta-love. Ms. Keyes gives you a taste of Christmas romance and you’re able to get a feel for her writing in this story.

My Amazon review:

It’s the first book from this author that I have read and I really enjoyed it. It was a quick and romantic read. Love at first sight, kind of story, with two broken individuals drawn together by their pain. I love sweet romantic stories with a happily ever after and this delivered.

one wish janae keyesYou get one wish, what do you wish for?

Melanie Morris has freshly filed for divorce, and she can’t bare the thought of spending Christmas surrounded by her nosey family. It might be the last Christmas she can spend in the holiday home she and her estranged husband own in the Sierra Nevada. Melanie’s one wish is never to feel alone as she had during her marriage.

The snow is coming down, and it is Christmas Eve. Electrician Hunter Ripley isn’t in the Christmas spirit and wants to clock out and spend the evening with his feet up, and a beer in his hand, forgetting the memories of his late wife. Hunter’s one wish is to find peace in the past as he works to move on.

One last call comes in, and Hunter is up to bat when he’s called to an elaborate holiday cabin. With the heat out and the snow coming down, Melanie and Hunter have to make due until the snow clears. Will their wishes come true this Christmas?

Sweet and Sinful Saturday Reads…

This weeks Sweet and Sinful Saturday Read goes to a book written by a woman whom I had not even heard of (*gasp*) until #RT16. Now I am kicking my ass for not knowing who I was talking to and jumping all over her work. Who might you ask was this? None other than the wonderful A.L. Jackson.

Since meeting her I have read A Stone in the Sea. What a wonderful story! I need to get back to that series! I will admit I haven’t read past that one, mainly because I have so many books in line.

I recommend that you not ONLY read this novel, but clear your schedule because if the rest are like the first you are going to want to binge read these. I’ll probably reread this one before diving into the others. We ALL love refreshing ourselves with awesome story-lines and this one is not an exception. Don’t forget to come back and tell me what you thought!

A Stone in the SEaSunder lead singer Sebastian Stone is no stranger to trouble.

It follows him wherever he goes.

From his track record, he should have known Shea Bentley would be a problem. But the soft, innocent Southern girl was all he could see. All he wanted to see. Now they’re both drowning in a sea of desire, sinking hopelessly into a world of lust, and their passion refuses to let them up for air.

No matter how much he wants that to be enough…Shea has an inescapable past. One she would do anything to keep running from.

But some secrets never die.

If her history is dragged from the depths, it could tear his world apart. He has to decide if she’s worth fighting the tide or if they should just sink like a stone in the sea.

A Stone in the Sea is Book One in Shea & Sebastian’s two-part Duet.

Hey! I hope you’ve been getting in some reading time. Maybe on the beach or pool. Hell, maybe you’re hidden in a pantry as you escape your kids during summer break. No judgement here. Let me get to today’s recommendation…

The Incidental Affair by K.S. Marshall was a great debut novel. I’m looking forward to reading her latest release, Losing Her. I’ll admit that I had moments where I wanted to reach into my tablet and shake the characters around. To me this is a sign of great writing. The story flowed and had me engaged. Make sure to give her a shot.

Unless you’re next to a virtual stranger — in your boyfriend’s house.
I had no idea how we ended up naked in the first place.
He was just supposed to be my coworker — my sexy, off limits coworker.
But I’m having flashbacks of the wicked things that perfect mouth of his was capable of,
and now I’m curious to find out more…

She doesn’t remember a thing about last night,
But she asked me to stay.

There’s no denying the hot chemistry brewing between Danielle and Drew,
but past and present might have more than enough to affect their future.

Welcome back! Today’s recommendation goes to Royal Atlas by HJ Bellus. Seriously, it’s going to make you laugh and cry. By cry, I really mean big fat ugly tears, but holy hell it’s worth it. Such a great read! I read Gravity first and it didn’t take anything away from the story either. I’ll be moving on to The Traveller next.  Happy reading! Don’t forget to tell me what you thought!  – AJ

Yay! Another weekend! Today’s Sweet and Sinful Saturday Reads goes to Julie Garwood’s Shadow Dance. So many readers and friends always ask who my favorite author is and hands down Julie Garwood is at the top of that list.

When I first started reading for fun I was encouraged to read her work. Shadow Dance is one of the contemporary romance novels that follows the Buchanan family. There are no words for my love of this story line.

Brother’s best friend. Suspense. Stubborn strong female.

It’s easily my favorite of the series of books that delve into the Buchanan family. If you want to start this series from the beginning pick up Heartbreaker. You’ll get your first glimpse into Noah, the hero in this novel in that story. Although, you could read it without the other.

Let me know what you think!

Jordan Buchanan is thrilled that her brother and best friend are tying the knot. The wedding is a lavish affair–for the marriage of Dylan Buchanan and Kate MacKenna is no ordinary occasion. It represents the joining of two family dynasties. The ceremony and reception proceed without a hitch–until a crasher appears claiming to be a MacKenna guest. The disheveled and eccentric professor of medieval history warns that there’s “bad blood” between the couple’s clans, stemming from an ancient feud that originated in Scotland, and involving the Buchanan theft of a coveted MacKenna treasure.

Jordan has always led a cautious life and has used her intelligence and reason to become a successful businesswoman. So she is intrigued but skeptical of the professor’s claims that the feud has been kept alive by the grave injustices the Buchanans have perpetrated over the centuries. But when Noah Clayborne, a close family friend and a man who has never let a good time or a pretty girl pass him by, accuses Jordan of being trapped in her comfort zone, she determines to prove him wrong and sets out on a spontaneous adventure to the small, dusty town of Serenity, Texas, to judge the professor’s research for herself.

Maneuvering through a close-knit community in which everyone knows everyone else’s business, Jordan never anticipates the danger and intrigue that lie in her path, nor the threat that will shadow her back to Boston, where even in familiar surroundings, her life is at risk.

A powerful thug who rules by fear, a man who harbors a simmering secret, and an unexpected romance that pierces all defenses–beloved author Julie Garwood weaves these dazzling elements into a brilliant novel of romantic suspense. Shadow Dance is a searing tango of passion and peril.

Great suspense to go with the romance. This series brings you a group of military men wronged and we get to watch them put the pieces together so they can get their lives back. Tall, dark, and lethal…

Trouble just walked into Nicholas Rixey’s tattoo parlor. Becca Merritt is warm, sexy, wholesome–pure temptation to a very jaded Nick. Are you willing to push your reading boundaries? Feeling Hot was the first of Elle Kennedy’s books I read and it is definitely a SINFUL read. I had never, EVER, read a book that involved a threesome prior to this story. I found myself not only enjoying Cash and Jen’s story, but looking into the rest of the man-whores…er… I mean Seals. LOL! Give this story a try if you’re looking for a hot read.

“In tight quarters, anything can happen. ”

An “Out of Uniform” Story

It s been a rough month for Navy SEAL Cash McCoy. Fresh off six months of celibacy during his deployment, he almost got into a hot blonde’s panties before they were interrupted. Since then, he still hasn t gotten laid. The reason? He lost her number. And no other woman has replaced her face in his fantasies.

Then his CO asks him to keep an eye on his sister for a few weeks. Just until her psycho stalker ex is transferred. Cash’s new houseguest is none other than the same gorgeous, quirky blonde. And just his luck his orders include an emphatic “hands off.”

Jen Scott is having none of it. Now that she has a second chance, she s not letting Cash slip away. Orders be damned, he’s the one man capable of helping her explore her sexuality. She’s even willing to break her own rule never date military men to get the gorgeous SEAL into her bed.

Except Cash makes it clear he wants more than she bargained for. Much more. Not just her body, but the one thing she promised herself she’d never give to a man in uniform. Her heart.

Warning: Sexy SEAL? Check. Sassy heroine determined to seduce him? Check. Scorching hot sex bound to make you blush? Double check. A threesome and some man-on-man action? Triple check. You’ve been warned. “

Sweet and Sinful Saturday Reads…

Today’s Sweet and Sinful Saturday Read is Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley. It’s the first novel in her Dream Man series. A friend recommended this novel a few years ago. After reading it I proceeded to binge read the series and jump to the Rock Chick series and later the Chaos series.

While drinking cosmopolitans in a fabulous little black dress, Gwendolyn Kidd meets the man of her dreams. Then she takes him home. Then she wakes up alone. But her fear that she lost her dream man turns into a relationship with a mystery man when, night after night in the dead of night, he comes back for more. Hoping it will blossom into something real, she lets him.

But she doesn’t even know his name.

Gwen’s struggling with the decision to end their crazy non-relationship when her sister-from-hell, Ginger’s best friend pays a visit and warns Gwen that if she and her sister don’t get smart, they’ll both get d-e-a-d, dead. Gwen has no clue what’s going on but she’s used to Ginger’s antics and decides to lay the problem on her sister’s biker boyfriend’s doorstep. Bad choice. She catches the eye of the biker hottie president of the Chaos Motorcycle Club, not long after she gets the attention of a Denver police detective who surely is on the cover of the DPD’s Hot Guy calendar and lastly she hits the Denver Underground radar with a big, loud ping.

This means Gwen’s Mystery Man, Cabe “Hawk” Delgado has to step in to keep her safe. But when Hawk gets a dose of Gwen in the daylight, he makes the decision that he finally wants real with Gwen. However when Gwen gets a dose of badass, bossy, straight-talker Hawk in the daylight, she decides she’s done.

Thus begins the head-to-head of the Commando vs. Cosmo Girl as Hawk woos Gwen in his own unique way, Gwen survives firebombs, drive-bys, kidnappings, hot pursuits by biker hotties and gorgeous police detectives and discovers the heartbreaking reason why Hawk kept her at arm’s length.

And as all this happens, Gwen finds that her sister’s troubles are serious trouble and she must decide who to keep alive: her sister-from-hell or the man of her dreams.

I’m sorry I’ve missed a few Saturdays… we’ve been uber busy preparing for this move.

Today I wanted to share book one of an awesome Highlander series by Margaret Mallory! The Guardian is awesome and will leave you wanting to know more about the other warriors. I found this series when it first came out years ago, but now you don’t have to wait for the next in the series!

Four fearless warriors return to the Highlands to claim their lands and legacies. But all their trials on the battlefield can’t prepare them for their greatest challenge yet: winning the hearts of four willful Scottish beauties.

After years of fighting abroad, Ian MacDonald comes home to find his clan in peril. To save his kin, he must right the wrongs from his past . . . and claim the bride he’s long resisted.

As a young lass, Sìleas depended on Ian to play her knight in shining armor. But when his rescue attempt compromised her virtue, Ian was forced to marry against his wishes. Five years later, Sìleas has grown from an awkward girl into an independent beauty who knows she deserves better than the reluctant husband who preferred war to his wife. Now this devilishly handsome Highlander is finally falling in love. He wants a second chance with Sìleas – and he won’t take no for an answer.

Back for another book recommendation? Well I have one for you! Have you taken Carina Adam’s for a spin yet? I recommend you start with Forever Red from her ‘Bama boys series. I really enjoyed this series and am patiently waiting for the next one in the series to release. There are two novels plus a prequel in this series right now.

forever redNot afraid to speak his mind or make a scene, Nathaniel Kelly has made a name for himself as country music’s ultimate bad boy.
Covered in tattoos, singing songs about drugs, drinking and heartache, Nate acts more like an out of control rock star than the grandson of one of the genres most influential and legendary stars. Every man wants to be him. Every woman wants just one night with the hard-rocking country rebel.
Except me.
I just want to know that the boy I used to love is happy and that I didn’t break his heart in vain. That’s why I buy every magazine that even mentions his name; at least, that’s the story I tell myself.
When my friends gave me a birthday present any fan would die for, I was suddenly face-to-face with the man I never thought I’d see again. My body wasn’t supposed to react to him the way it did. And, Nate sure as hell wasn’t supposed to look at me the way he used to.
Can someone you loved as a teenager really have a hold on your heart twelve years later? Is it ever too late to say you’re sorry and make up for past wrongs?
I’m about to find out.
